Fanny is a Ph.D. student in Applied and Agricultural Economics at UW-Madison where Prof Jennifer Alix-Garcia is her primary advisor. She joined the Gibbs lab in summer 2014 as a Research Associate where she applies her expertise in Econometrics and Statistical Analysis to better understand land use changes in the Brazilian Amazon. She uses statistical and spatial analysis to analyze land-use responses to environmental policies and estimate impacts of environmental policies on deforestation. She is motivated to lead research to improve policy building by analyzing their direct and indirect effects.

She graduated with a Master from the Université de Sherbrooke (Québec, Canada), and has been involved in the last decade in many projects deeply rooted in sustainability. Fluent in 5 languages, Fanny worked at FAO and in Honduras within the poorest communities of the country. Before coming to Wisconsin, she was a lecturer in Economics for two years. She also worked on a research project to estimate the economic value of ecosystem services provided by wetlands.
