Thaís Passos is a veterinarian, agroecologist, and translator. Her fields of work include animal and public health, sustainability, and Portuguese language.

Thaís was born and raised in Brazil, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Medicine and worked for 10+ years, delivering training to professionals in the agribusiness sector. With a solid background in dairy production, she moved to the US in 2007 to study at the UW-Madison, where she earned a Master of Science in Agroecology. Her research focused on how changing dairy cows’ diets affects the environmental impacts of milk production in WI (“Green cheese: Partial life cycle assessment of greenhouse gas emissions and energy intensity of integrated dairy production and bioenergy systems”).

Passos also holds a Master of Arts from UW in Latin American, Caribbean and Iberian Studies (LACIS), with a specialization in Translation. She is an English to Portuguese translator certified by the American Translators Association.
